Amalagate Records was created by Alex Maniatis in 2000 as an outlet for Punk and Indie bands. Amalagate began working with artists and bands around the Boston area, culminating in the Moment/There Were Wires 7" & The Burning Paris "Coral City Ruin" LP, the first of many great releases. A 2001 merger with Dopamine Records brought into being the Dopamine/Amalagate family. Amalagate became the outlet for ambient, indie and hardcore acts, while Dopamine handled a broader spectrum of genres. Now, after 5 years and many memorable Dopamine/Amalagate releases, Amalagate has been "resurrected" and given new life within the family. This new role expands upon the traditional Dopamine/Amalagate dynamic, with additions that reflect the growth, maturity and gained resources of the past 5 years. While Dopamine functions on a traditional Band/Label model, Amalagate is structured as more of a partnership between Band and Label. Amalagate will focus more on utilizing it's vast array of distribution networks (physical and digital), established marketing and licensing relationships, and the leveraged power and experience of a developed brand, to get the Band/Artist presence out into areas that may be beyond the resources of those just starting out. Amalagate can have a limited role in band "management" by offering monetary, promotional, public relations, and tour support on a case-specific basis. And more than just offering a name, Amalagate hopes to form solid relationships that are beneficial, both artistically and monetarily, to all.
