The sound you will hear upon first listen to PLACER's debut album "Summer" will undoubtedly be one of vastness, texture and energy. The Boston based quartet's instrumentation in and of itself lends to the unique sound that is demonstrated both live and on record. Throaty, distorted baritone guitar is combined with driving drums and overdriven bass delivering a thick and powerful low end, which is complimented by a cutting lap steel guitar and dense vocal harmonies. Creative and expressive songwriting, articulate musicianship, and broad musical backgrounds of the personnel meld to form a cohesive unit appealing to music lovers of all schools, giving PLACER the opportunity to put it's own very original stamp on today's ever encompassing rock scene.

PLACER is Jeff Turlik, Andrew Schneider, Tom Korkidis, and Michael Ushinski on lap steel, baritone guitars/vocals, bass/vocals, and drums respectively. Former and/or current bands/projects featuring these musicians include: Barbaro, Milligram, The Blue Man Group, The Alienist Outfit, Stricken for Catherine, Slughog, and Stompbox. Schneider has masterfully produced "Summer" as well as many major label and independent records. Stellar performances of bass and lap steel guitar on "Summer" were co-composed and executed by former members Kate McGlaughlin, and Pat Gleaston. Bringing one's mind from high open spaces to dark shadowy crevaces is what PLACER is offering to you, the listener. Enjoy.
